Busted – Great Whitetail Alert

On my first whitetail hunt for 2009, I was busted!  I had three doe(s) come visiting in the last 10 minutes of shooting light.  They came withing 10 yards and I knew I wasn’t ready for a freezer deer on my first hunt.  I watched, hoping a buck would try sneaking in during the final fleeting moments of light.  When I couldn’t see anything but vague shapes, I reached to put my bow on it’s hanger thinking she wasn’t paying attention.  The doe closest to me must have heard or saw my movement and went into full announcement mode.

After about 10 minutes of snorting and letting everyone in the forest know I was there, I finally grabbed my camera to record the audio display.  She must have been a little unsure of the threat, because she was very, very slow to leave.  Normally when you are busted it’s a single or a few brief snorts and the deer is gone, she must have carried on 100 times!  Have a listen to the audio, it’s a great display!
